From The 4th October 2010 the driving test will consist of an "independent driving" section. This will involve the candidate being given directions to a small amount of junctions in advanced and then be expected to follow the the directions. There will also be a reduction to the minimum compulsory number of manoeuvres from two to one.

As from the 28th September 2009 the theory test will contain a case study. This will take part within the current 50 multiple choice questions and will not affect the hazard perception part of the test.
