Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lancaster Driving Lessons collects, uses, stores and protects personal information in connection with driving tuition and related services.
Lancaster Driving Lessons only collects information that is reasonably necessary for providing tuition, managing learner records, handling payments, supporting test preparation and meeting legal or administrative requirements.
1. Information We Collect
Lancaster Driving Lessons may collect and hold personal information including:
- Full name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Driving licence details
- Lesson and progress records
- Payment information
- Practical driving test details
We may also collect emergency contact details, normally including the contact’s name, relationship to the learner and telephone number. Learners should have permission before providing another person’s details.
Where relevant to safe driving or the way tuition needs to be delivered, we may also ask for limited information about a medical condition, disability or medication. Unrelated medical history is not required.
2. How We Use Your Information
Personal information may be used to:
- Arrange and manage driving lessons.
- Maintain learner records and track progress.
- Communicate about lessons, cancellations, availability and practical tests.
- Record payments and manage lesson accounts.
- Support theory learning and driving-test preparation.
- Manage access to relevant third-party services such as TotalDrive and TestBuddy.
- Meet legal, insurance, safeguarding or administrative requirements where applicable.
Information about medical conditions, disabilities or medication will only be used where it is relevant to safe driving or to the way lessons need to be delivered.
3. Where Your Information Is Stored
Most learner information is stored within TotalDrive, which is used to support learner records, lesson administration and progress tracking.
Telephone numbers and basic contact details may also be stored on the instructor’s phone where needed for normal communication about lessons.
Information may also be held in other business records where this is necessary for administration, payments, legal obligations or insurance purposes.
4. Sharing Your Information
Lancaster Driving Lessons does not routinely sell or share personal information for marketing purposes.
Personal information may be shared with third-party services where this is necessary to provide or support tuition. This currently includes TotalDrive and TestBuddy.
Information may also be shared where this is legally required or genuinely necessary for administration, insurance or the safe delivery of tuition.
5. Parents and Carers
Parents and carers are not routinely recorded as a separate contact for every learner.
Where the learner is under 18, a parent or carer may be involved in lesson arrangements where appropriate. In some cases, they may also be given appropriate access to the learner’s TotalDrive information where this has been arranged.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
Lancaster Driving Lessons will normally keep core learner and business records for up to 6 years after tuition ends where this is reasonably necessary for business, legal, tax, insurance or record-keeping purposes.
More sensitive information, such as medical information and emergency contact details, should be reviewed and deleted earlier when it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
7. Reviews, Testimonials and Photographs
Lancaster Driving Lessons may ask former or current learners to provide a review or testimonial.
Google reviews may be used as testimonials on the Lancaster Driving Lessons website or other promotional material.
Identifiable photographs of learners should only be used for the website or social media where clear permission has been recorded. Verbal permission alone should not normally be relied upon for identifiable learner images.
8. Your Privacy Rights and Contact Details
You may contact Lancaster Driving Lessons if you have a question about how your personal information is used or if you want to make a request relating to your personal data.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include asking to access, correct or update information held about you.
Privacy and data-related enquiries should be sent to:

9. Cookies, Analytics and Website Data
The Lancaster Driving Lessons website may use cookies and similar technologies where these are necessary for the website to function or where optional services are enabled.
Google Analytics is planned for a later stage of the website rebuild. Analytics should only operate after appropriate consent has been obtained for analytics cookies.
Other third-party website services, such as Google Maps, YouTube or social-media feeds, may also set cookies if they are added to the site. The actual services used will be reviewed before the Cookie Policy is finalised.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the way Lancaster Driving Lessons operates, the services or systems used, or relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
The current version published on the Lancaster Driving Lessons website will apply at that time.
